Annually, the association holds it's Virginia Water Conference, usually on a Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in early March.  Attendance, usually around 200, consists of Virginians from government, industry, and academic fields.

The conference is the primary opportunity for Virginia practitioners, officials, researchers and academicians to share information and exchange ideas.  Formally, this is done during dozens of 90-minute topical sessions where technical papers are presented.  Informally, this is done at social gatherings, outings, and luncheons which accompany the conference.

In addition, the conference serves as the opportunity for the general membership to meet in business session.
